Mutual Fund Assets Hit Record INR 65.74 Lakh Crore in FY25, Surge 23% YoY 3c5gx

New Delhi, May 20: India’s mutual fund industry witnessed a robust 23% year-on-year growth in assets under management (AUM), reaching a record ₹65.74 lakh crore in FY25, according to the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI). This surge was driven by strong net inflows, mark-to-market gains, and buoyant equity and debt markets.

In comparison, the AUM stood at ₹53.40 lakh crore in March 2024. Net inflows during FY25 totaled ₹8.15 lakh crore, while equity market performance—reflected in Nifty 50 TRI and Sensex TRI gains of 6% and 5.9%, respectively—contributed significantly to the asset expansion.

Investor participation also reached new highs, with total mutual fund folios rising to 23.45 crore and the investor base growing to 5.67 crore. Notably, equity-oriented folios rose 33.4% to 16.38 crore, ing for 70% of all folios. Hybrid schemes saw a 16% increase in folios, while ive schemes like index funds and ETFs surged 48.3% to 4.15 crore. In contrast, debt fund folios declined by 3% to 69.5 lakh.

Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) remained a preferred investment route, with contributions rising 45.24% year-on-year to ₹2.89 lakh crore. SIP assets grew 24.6% to ₹13.35 lakh crore, now forming over 20% of the industry’s total AUM.

Women investors continued to strengthen their presence, comprising 26% (1.38 crore) of the total investor base, up from 24.2% in the previous year—reflecting greater financial awareness and participation among women.

Equity mutual funds recorded a historic net inflow of ₹4.17 lakh crore in FY25—more than double the inflows in FY24. This was further ed by the launch of 70 new equity fund offers, mobilizing ₹85,244 crore.

Meanwhile, debt mutual funds reversed last year’s outflows with net inflows of ₹1.38 lakh crore, boosting their AUM by 20.5% to ₹15.21 lakh crore by March 2025.
