Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, Chevella Parliament Constituency Candidate of Indian National Congress, speaking at Yellamma Banda in Alwin colony, Nizampet said, my grandfather KV Ranga Reddy was a lawyer and an MLC in the Nizam Government, he initiated several private bills and laws, some of them were against the Nizam, despite being a ruler Nizam was tolerant of criticism and used to appreciate divergent views and accepted them.
My grandfather despite being in politics, didn’t want any of his children to politics and felt service to the society could be rendered through any profession, therefore all his children opted for various professions. I too didn’t have interest in politics and my family and friends including my grandfather didn’t encourage me from ing politics. I initially worked for big companies, later started social work, participated in the Telangana agitation.
It was KCR who wanted me to politics, but I conveyed to him my lack of interest. He, along with KTR didn’t leave me at that and persisted for three years, saying people like you coming to politics is the need of the hour. I relented and contested in elections, became an MP and went to parliament. I had lots of hope with the formation of Telangana and was of the firm belief that smaller states will be more development oriented.
But in a year’s time I realized that the development was not up to the level it was supposed to be and ideology wise too we were going back to a dark age. Nizam was tolerant to criticism and implemented bills which were against his rule, in his era. But the new Telanagana government was damaging the rule of law, embedded in our constitution by Shri Ambedkar. We the people of Telangana desired collective rule, but he wanted to rule by himself and the family. The happenings in the state is a matter of shame and dismay, for the first time in the history of India, there is no opposition voice in the Legislative Council, which is nothing but a murder of democracy, committed by Telangana government. But what is heartening is the recent development of loss of all the three seats in the MLC elections, by the ruling party. Even in the Legislative Assembly, the attempt is to stifle the voice of the opposition and ensure no one questions.
The King says parliamentarians should go to parliament and not to farmhouse. But they knocked out all the MPs who went to parliament, Jitender Reddy the floor leader, Prof Sitaram Naik, all these used to attend parliament and raise their voice. The position now is all those who went to farmhouse were given tickets. He is buying over the opposition MLAs. At such a juncture it is your responsibility to the candidate who can defeat the one who is destroying democracy. You should elect a candidate who can take care of civic problems, who can get roads, drainages repaired, ensure mosquito free place. Earlier the grievance was the Andhra people were taking away our funds, but now with the separate state our funds are with us and still the state of things, basic civic infrastructure, roads, drainages continue to be bad.
All this is definitely not Bangaru Telangana. This is not the Telangana we dreamt off. Gradually the rule is getting centralized and becoming autocratic. Congress has won in three states in recent elections and is implementing the real loan waiver and will implement minimum income scheme on coming to power. The difference between the schemes of Congress and other parties is, Congress schemes are for all irrespective of the caste, religion etc.
The kings party here has a scheme for each caste, they have politically taken us back by 60 years. I had a comfortable tenure in the ruling party, no one quits ruling party but I did for serving people, I will fight for the cause of the people. I have 95% attendance in parliament and 99% in the constituency, I have taken just 15 days off leave in the last five years. I will continue to be accessible.
A regional party MP will have limited power, while a national party MP will be more stronger. I was with the regional party and the daily attendance in a regional party is essential in the farmhouse and not in the parliament. Modi because of misdoing is going to lose power, Congress will come to power, having an MP of the ruling party in the Center, will help in development of the region.
