IIHMR Start-ups and BHASHINI Launch Hackathon to Boost Multilingual AI in Public Services b314h

Jaipur, 23rd May 2025: IIHMR Start-ups in collaboration with The Digital India BHASHINI Division successfully hosted a high-impact BHASHINI Hackathon Outreach event, catalysing innovation in multilingual artificial intelligence (AI) for more effective public service delivery.

The event witnessed a keynote address by Dr. Amitabh Nag, CEO, Digital India BHASHINI Division, (a Division under Digital India corporation), Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India emphasized the transformative potential of AI in bridging language barriers across India. He shared that multilingualism promotes inclusivity and diversity by bridging language barriers and encouraging cross-cultural insights. Such initiatives reflect our vision to contribute to national priorities by fostering cutting-edge, multilingual AI solutions that enhance accessibility and public service delivery.

Dr. PR Sodani, President, IIHMR University, highlighted the role of Higher Education Institutions in digital transformation across all sectors include Health, Education, Agriculture, and many more. He emphasised that there is a strong need for new courses for the students to learn digital transformation and analytics to improve the efficiency and overall welfare of the society. We remain committed to integrating digital innovation into health and development.

Mr. Anil Kumar Singh, Director, Department of IT, Rajasthan Government, highlighted the state’s commitment to integrating technology for inclusive governance. Ms. Yamini Agarwal Director, IIHMR Startups, spoke on the importance of collaborative ecosystems in nurturing health-tech startups. She highlighted that IIHMR Start-ups is working towards promoting and empowering start-ups to scale the new initiatives for better outcomes for the society.

The outreach event brought together thought leaders, technocrats, policy makers, academics, and health-tech entrepreneurs. The event featured 13 distinguished speakers in two engaging discussions centered on “AI & NLP for Law Enforcement: Smarter Policing Innovations” and “AI-Powered Multilingual Healthcare & Public Services”.

Participants engaged with domain experts, gaining valuable insights into real-world challenges and hackathon themes. The outreach initiative is designed to raise awareness, strengthen capabilities, and spark the development of localized, scalable AI and language technology solutions across various sectors.
