STAMFORD, Conn., May 30, 2025 — Philip Morris International Inc.’s (PMI) U.S. business today announced the appointment of Peter Diatelevi as Chief Sales and Distribution Officer. In this role, Diatelevi will report to Seth Kaufman, Chief Commercial Officer, and serve as a member of the PMI U.S. Commercial Leadership Team. Diatelevi succeeds Paul Sammartino, who has made the decision to retire this summer. The company expressed gratitude for Sammartino’s dedicated and dynamic leadership of the sales team, acknowledging his many contributions.
Diatelevi ed PMI U.S. in September 2024, leading trade marketing, the pricing office, and the sales service team. In this short time, he has driven significant progress across key initiatives and built a reputation as a collaborative, values-driven leader who forges strong stakeholder relationships.

With more than 25 years of leadership experience in sales, general management, and strategic planning, Diatelevi brings deep industry expertise to his new role. Prior to ing PMI U.S., he served as CEO of Boldt Runners Corporation, where he led the company through a period of rapid growth, raising capital, expanding retail distribution, and launching product lines across international markets. Earlier in his career, he held senior leadership roles at Altria, including Regional Vice President of Sales and Vice President of Customer Services, where he was instrumental in redeg sales structures and strategic trade programs and building high-performing teams.
Diatelevi holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. This appointment reflects PMI U.S.’s continued investment in strong leadership to drive progress and meet the growing consumer demand for science-based, smoke-free better alternatives to cigarettes.
